Anne McCormack

Anne McCormack, 84, of Scranton, and formerly of Taylor, died on Wednesday afternoon at Elan Skilled Nursing Center, Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Joseph P. McCormack, who died March 13, 2018.
Born in Taylor on September 24, 1941, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Krisko Sochovka, and was a graduate of Taylor High School, Class of 1959. Anne spent her working career spanning two decades as a secretary at the Pennsylvania Office of Public Welfare, first at the Wilkes Barre office, and later at the Scranton branch, before retiring to raise her family.
A devout Catholic woman, Anne was active in parish activities at St. John the Baptist Church in Taylor, and more recently, at St. Paul’s / St. Clare’s Parish in Scranton.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Elan Skilled Nursing Center, particularly the 4th Floor Staff, for their exceptional care of Anne.
Anne is also survived by three sons, Joseph and wife Stacey, Waverly, Sean McCormack and wife Connie, Waverly, and Brain, and wife Louise, Scranton, city, a nephew, Michael Keppick, and wife Gina, Taylor, a niece, Joanne Corey, and husband, William, Pittston, great nephews Chris Corey and Rob Corey, M.D., eight grandchildren, Jake, Joey, Claira, Jaxson, Grace, Sean, Sara and Brian, Jr., and a sister-in-law, June McCormack, Roaring Brook Township.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margie Sochovka and Joan Keppick.
The family is forever grateful to caregivers Michael and Gina Keppick, and Joanne and Bill Corey, for their extraordinary devotion to the care and comfort of Anne, attending to her every need daily, faithfully, lovingly.
The funeral will be conducted on Thursday, February 12, 2026 with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 am in St. Paul’s Church, 1510 Penn Avenue, Scranton. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church for the hour preceding services, beginning at 9:00 am. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, to follow.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Edward Knight O’Donnell Funeral Home, LLC, 323 William Street, Scranton.
