David J. Howells
August 5, 2026
David J. Howells, 69, of North Scranton, died peacefully at home on Wednesday morning.
Born in Scranton on January 16, 1957, son of the late Alfred and Lucille Baldere Howells, he was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, Class of 1974. David continued his studies, focusing on electronics, at Johnson School of Technology, where he earned a degree in Specialized Technology. His technical skills would be valued at the Trane Corporation in Dunmore for over 14 years, and later, at Jay’s Business Systems in North Scranton, before retiring.
David was a lifelong Raiders Fan. It didn’t matter what city they played out of – his loyalty to the team never wavered. He was also an avid outdoorsman who spent much of his free time fishing. Whether it was the heat of summer or the cold of winter, you could often find David out on the lake, enjoying one of the things he loved most. He was also an avid deer hunter and cherished the time he spent outdoors.
David is survived by his daughter, Audra Taskalos, and husband Bryan, Leesburg, Florida, a sister, Linda Catalano, Scranton, a niece Heather Chorba, Throop, a nephew, Chris Catalano, of Wilkes-Barre and a great-niece, Estella Chorba, Throop.
A Visitation and Blessing Service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 4-6 pm at the Edward Knight O’Donnell Funeral Home, LLC, 323 William Street, Scranton, with the commencement of the blessing service at 5:30 pm. Entombment at Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst, will be private, at the convenience of the family.
