Delia Ines Toro Rogers, age 70, of North Scranton, surrounded by family, took her last breath and passed away peacefully Saturday morning, March 16th

Delia was born November 4th, 1953 in Caracas, Venezuela to the late Nora del Carmen Adrianza and Carlos Alberto Toro. Delia was of the Catholic faith, always finding time to say a prayer, she attended school in Caracas. Upon graduating from high school, she proceeded to earn a degree from art school and a certificate in Physical Training. Upon arriving in America in 1995, she landed her first job at a local Miami fitness club as a trainer. Speaking little to no English at the time, she was determined to teach herself the English language. After Miami, Delia moved north to Philadelphia to be closer to her sister, Luisa Beatriz and husband Mohammad. Moving further North, she finally settled in Scranton with her brother Carlos Alberto Toro. Delia met her future husband in 2001, making him wait ten years to the date before saying “Yes” to marry him in August 2011.

Delia was talented, intelligent, funny and incredibly compassionate. She loved everyone and everything. She truly abhorred racism and prejudice. Delia never, and I mean never looked down on anyone. She was employed in the health care industry, working at Allied Services’ Nursing 4 North Dementia Unit.

She was predeceased by her parents, as well as a step-father whom she loved as a father, Ricardo Lopez.

She is survived by her husband of 13 years, Ronald Rogers, of Scranton, a sister, Luisa Beatriz Toro Ashrafzadeh, and husband Mohammad, Horsham, a brother, Carlos Alberto Toro, Dickson City,  a nephew, Julio Cesar Ashrafzadeh, and partner, Lauren, Lansdale. And don’t dare forget her cat, “Lucky”.

The family would like the staff at Geisinger-CMC ICU know that their kindness and compassion, as well as their professionalism during Delia’s stay will never be forgotten. We would also like to thank Allied Services Hospice Center for the compassion shown to us in Delia’s very short stay. If not for them, we may have missed the last few breaths of life that Delia took before entering in to “God’s” hands. Thank you for that gift. And finally, a special thank-you to Delia’s brother-in-law, Dennis Rogers, for the tireless and unselfish times he gave of himself to care for Delia in her time of need, we are forever grateful. And lastly, as Delia would have wanted, take time today, hug a loved one, tell them you love them, because you truly never know how short life is or when that last day or breath will be.

Vaya Con Dios

Mi Amor.
