Elizabeth Strickland died peacefully on Tuesday afternoon at the age of 91, after a brief illness.
She was born on Dec. 9, 1929, in Shamokin, Pa., to Joseph and Florentine Berent. She graduated high school from Our Lady of Lourdes Regional School, Shamokin. As a member of Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Scranton, she was active in the Ladies Auxiliary.
Elizabeth played the piano for Ballet Theatre of Scranton for many years. She also worked for Allied Services for 15 years before retiring in 2005.
Surviving are two sons, Dr. Joseph Strickland (wife, Kim), and Harry B. Strickland (wife, Sheila); daughter, Elizabeth Elick (husband, Charlie); six grandchildren, Sarah, Joseph, Oliver, Hayden, Chloe and Benjamin; and one great-grandchild, Eli.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Stella, Mary and Florence; and a brother, Frank.
A private memorial Mass has been scheduled for Saturday, May 15, in Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit, to be celebrated by Monsignor Joseph G. Quinn.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Frank M. Regan Funeral Home, 715 Linden St., Scranton.
