Nelson Douaihy, 85, of Roaring Brook Twp., died on Tuesday evening at home, surrounded with the love and comfort of his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Sarah (Sally) Beynon Douaihy.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Peter and Helen Trager Douaihy, he was raised in the Hyde Park section of West Scranton and graduated from St. Patrick’s High School, Class of 1957. He attended the University of Scranton and honorably served in the 109th Infantry Regiment of the Pennsylvania National Guard.

He was employed in the manufacturing and hospitality industries, as a production manager for C-D Sportswear, owner of Dunn & Beynon’s Tavern, and inventory control for Kane Enterprises, Inc. He was a life-long member of St. Ann’s Maronite Church, West Scranton.

Nelson’s life was a testament to his strong faith and the values he held dear, leaving an enduring legacy of love, compassion, humility and unwavering loyalty.

The family would like to express their profound gratitude for the compassionate care and guidance provided by Dr. Karen Paczkowski and Dr. Stephen Opsasnick, and sincere appreciation for nurses and staff at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their kindness, comfort and support.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Kathleen (Kate) Burns and Aimee Hawkins, both of Haddon Twp., N.J., a son, Thomas Douaihy, Philadelphia, daughter-in-law Collette Douaihy, Philadelphia, and son-in-law Paul Hawkins, Haddon Twp., NJ; Forever cherished and remembered by his five grandchildren, Matthew Burns, Thomas Burns, J. Kieran Burns, Michael Douaihy, and Kiera Hawkins. Also, cousins, Cy (Jane) Douaihy, Thomas (Fran) Douaihy, Gina Douaihy, Yasmine Kane and Vincent (Katharine) Douaihy, and best friend of 80 years, Edward Deeb.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Nahia Artabane Douaihy, his auntie, Nabiha Douaihy, his uncle who was like a father, Joseph P. Douaihy, and son-in-law, J. Scott Burns.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am in St. Ann’s Maronite Church, Corner of N. Sumner Ave. & Price St., on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
