Stephanie Karvan, 46, of Scranton, died on Tuesday evening, July 7, 2026, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.

Born in Scranton on October 3, 1979, the daughter of the late James and Patricia Travis Karvan, she was raised in North Scranton, and was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, Class of 1997. Stephanie was an amazing cook, and her considerable culinary talents were featured at several area restaurants throughout her career. Her favorite hobby was spending time with her grandchildren and sharing all of the knowledge and life lessons she had with them. She was the kind of person who wasn’t just a parent to her own children, but a mother figure to so many others. She was caring, intelligent, compassionate, and loving to everyone whose life she touched.

Stephanie is survived by her children with whom she resided, son, Darnel Kendricks, and daughter, Kaylana Kendricks, Scranton, daughter Nadya Brown, and son Tyzae Wade, both of Scranton, a brother Donald Stott, Scranton, a sister Chrissy Karvan, Avoca, grandchildren Kaiden Kendricks and Guapo Lucido, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, James Karvan and Brian Karvan.

The funeral will be conducted on Thursday, July 23, 2026, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 am in Holy Rosary Church, 320 William Street, Scranton. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church from 9:00 am until the commencement of services. Those who attend the service are kindly asked to consider wearing purple to honor her memory, as it was her favorite color. Burial will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
